As they say, if you have a spark and you have fuel it should run.
Well, we have a spark. So I made a temporary fuel tank out of an old mayo bottle and that identified a load of problems with the carb float cover, float valve and tickler, so we're onto that. But I managed to get things fuel tight enough, with just a float bowl full of fuel, to optomistically try for a first start.
I'd primed the oil circuit etc as best I could and decided to go for it.

Definitely more work required, but a promise of things to come! Just as a reminder, this was 2 years ago:
